Pictures here from the annual Kirkin' of the Council parade through Perth. As usual, the parade of councillors, with the Provost, Council Chief Executive and Lord Dean of the Guild at the front were led to St John's Kirk by the Perth and District Pipe band and flanked on each side by the Society of High Constables of Perth.

Pictures here from the Perth Christmas Light Switch-on 2014. The headline acts were Peter Andre and Boney M who performed once the lights had been switched on and after a spectacular fireworks display from the people at 21cc.

 

Remembrance Sunday Parades Perth 2014

Pictures here of the Remembrance Sunday parades through Perth this year. First of all there was the parade with a number of war veterans, army, navy and air force cadets who were joined in the parade this year by local brownie and guides. Following this there was the parade of councilors, provost and Lord Lieutenant, led as per usual by the Perth and District Pipe Band and flanked by the Society of High Constables. Following a service of remembrance in St John's Kirk, the parade with veterans and cadets took the salute at the bottom of the High Street as they paraded to the North Inch.

Perth and Kinross Council Evacuated

The Perth and Kinross Council HQ at 2 High Steet was evacuated this afternoon following reports of a smell of smoke. Two appliances attended but could fins no trace of any fire. The offices were evacuated for 45 minutes with traffic diverted for a short time.

Chinese New Year Parade - Perth

Pictures here of a parade through the town to celebrate the Chinese New Year.
Before the parade started there was an impressive firecracker display at the Tay Street Viewpoint.
The parade was led by Police horses (marking the Chinese year of the Horse), a Chinese lion dance troop and acrobats performing gymnastic poses and tumbles, leading the Provost and community members through Perth High Street, King Edward Street, St John's Place and St John Street to the Salutation Hotel on South Street.

Perth Christmas Light Switch-on

A selection of pictures here from a day of events to mark the Christmas lights being switched on in Perth. There was a variety of street entertainment, a chocolate festival, two stages providing entertainment, ice sculpting and funfair rides on Tay Street. One of the highlights on the main stage were the Luminites. Once the lights were switched on by Provost Liz Grant and Mark Wright from The Only Way Is Essex there was a spectacular fireworks display. The day was finished off by Eric Faulkner's  Bay City Rollers.
