Perth Flat Fire

Pictures here from the scene of a fire in the St Catherine's Square block of flats in Perth.
A fire had taken hold in a flat on the top floor of the block and was well established by the time the fire service arrived.

Just prior to their arrival, the occupant of the flat, jumped from the window to avoid the flames. He was taken to Dundee with serious leg and ankle injuries.

Three units, including the combined aerial platform, attended from Perth, along with additional units from Dunkeld and Auchterarder. The Command Support Unit from Dundee was also turned out, along with the Scottish Ambulance Service resilience team.

The reports of the fire came in at 11.35, and whilst it took some time to access the flat due to the nature of the older building, the fire was brought under control and extinguished relatively quickely. Crews stayed on site until 2.15, with an Investigation to take place the following day.
