Perthshire Amateur Football Action

In the Ashleigh Cup it was Wolfhill 3 - 1 Pole Team - the match switched to the Inch - and Perth United 0 - 3 Vale of Earn. There was also league action with Letham winning out 3-2 against Craigie in a League Division 1 match.

Perth Flat Fire

Pictures here from a flat fire in Perth's George Street this morning. The fire broke out around 8.20 this morning, and crews from Perth, Dunkeld, Kinross and Coupar Angus all attended. In addition, further support came from Dundee in the form of additional appliances, Command Support Unit, and USAR unit. One man was taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation.

The fire was brought under control fairly quickly, but crews remained on scene throughout the day clearing up and ensuring the flat was made safe.

Mossmorran Flaring

Pictures here from the flaring from the Mossmorran ExxonMobil Plant at Lochgelly in Fife.

The flaring at some points could be seen from over 30 miles away.

According to a statement:
Statement – Fife Ethylene Plant
ExxonMobil can confirm that there has been a process upset on the feed treatment unit at the Fife Ethylene Plant. This will result in elevated flaring for approximately 48 – 72 hours.
We would like to apologise for the inconvenience and concern to the local community and reassure them that there is no risk to local community or staff at the plant.
As per our normal emergency procedures, the emergency services have responded.
Further information will be made available as soon as possible.

Perth Christmas Light Switchon Festival

Pictures from the Perth Christmas Light Switch-on Festival.

A day of events in the town was followed by a number of acts performing on the stage at the bottom of the High Street, hosted by TayFM's Stuart Webster.

Once the lights had been switched on there was a short fireworks display, and the day capped off by a performance from the Red Hot Chilli Pipers.

The photos here show the JGN Dance Attic and Perth Rock Choir on stage before the fireworks, as seen from Perth's Queens Bridge. Following the fireworks it was back round to see the Red Hot Chilli Pipers. The last couple of pages show some of the Christmas lights around Perth.
